PRAXIS Praksis provides a dynamic learning environment to support mindful curiosity and physical intelligence in movement research. You will have the opportunity to study with experienced and progressive dance artists who work actively in the field.
PRAXIS Body-Mind Centering®
Taught by Certified Body-Mind Centering educators Olive Bieringa, Otto Ramstad and Gry Kipperberg.
Body-Mind Centering® is an experiential approach to embodiment, movement and consciousness. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen over the last several decades, BMC works with the conscious embodiment of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical, embryological and developmental principles. It uses anatomical information, guided movement, intentional touch, voice, expressive arts, and a developing awareness of the play of conscious attention, or mind.
Do you like to exercise outdoors? Join colleagues for a collective activity! HELSEGYM is a regular weekly Thursday session that embraces health outdoors. Julie Steinjord Mjøen shares a series of exercises based on principles from interval and strength training.
Helse Gym is a session specifically aimed at dancers, it is based on circuit training emphasising repetitions and increasing heart rate. The goal of the session is to increase the working capacity of the muscles, heart, and to have some fun!
PRAXIS Artist Talks
Each semester we have three in depth artist talks. Each artist is invited to propose another artist whose work they feel has a conversation with their own. Both artists split the evening. Talks will take place in person and online.
In the fall of 2020 PRAXIS Oslo initiated a series of informal conversations. These have included themes such as dance lineages, somatic choreography, rehearsal and production space in Oslo, amongst others.
