Residency Showing with Eshidoreen Paradiso

Mazungumzo (“conversations” in Swahili) is a choreographic research project exploring the body as a language. Inspired by an experience in Tanzania where two people communicated through dance without words, the project asks how movement can create understanding across cultures and identities.

During the residency, the research focuses on the hips as a centre of rhythm, emotion, and communication, drawing connections between Tanzanian dance traditions and Hip Hop. Through improvisation, freestyle, repetition, groove, weight shifts, and an exploration of gravity, the project investigates how bodily expression can be transformed and reinterpreted within a Norwegian and Western context.

The event offers an insight into this ongoing artistic research, where movement becomes a way of communicating, questioning, and discovering new forms of connection beyond words.
