Free entry, RSVP required.
Meeting 14:45 at Hausmania's back gates (behind Vega Scene).
DESCRIPTION
As a dancer I am trained to work intuitively when devising material, to let my body organise itself, through ambiguous physical sensations and landscapes and into something specific and tangible. I would like to propose this as the core of my short time in the residency and see what can grow out of it.
To specify a starting point for the physical research, I'll build upon material from a duet I was working on this summer, called Horisont [horizon]. The duet was inspired by waves breaking in open seas, cloud formations soaring across the sky, and the idea of the space in-between the waves and the skies. I wanted to create a dance that could work with specificity and set movement, but still work with material that embodies the ever-changing nature of clouds and waves.
I propose to keep the doors open in the studio every day and invite others to join me. The social nature of dancing has always been important to me, and it would be wonderful to have colleagues joining me for a day or even several days. I am happy for this to be casual and ad-hoc, without further commitment, beyond sharing our time, thoughts and experiences.

BIO
Anders Engebretsen (b. 1995, he/him) is a dance artist hailing from Stavanger, Norway. He is based in Oslo and works as performer and maker in creative constellations across Norway and internationally.
Upon graduating from London Contemporary Dance School, he toured internationally with VERVE, and obtained an MA in Contemporary Dance Practice at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in August 2018. Since then he has worked with independent and collaborative productions, across Norway and abroad, frequently with Carl Aquilizan, and with Marit Meløe as the duo Meløe/Engebretsen.
Anders has created work for galleries, public spaces and for stages. His work has been programmed by RAS, Bærum Kulturhus, and festivals across Norway and abroad. Improvisation lies at the heart of the practice, connecting to a sense of spontaneity and playfulness, working intuitively through physical scores as a starting point for choreography and performance. His work celebrates the virtuosic nature of dance, creating situations and experiences that celebrate moving bodies in relation to one another, building structures and scores for living landscapes.
