About the event

PRAXIS Praksis is a 3 day long 'morning sharing' where we have invited several dance artists who will hold a space in which they share their ways into dancing; this can be through their daily routine, a choreographic practice, or other approaches into moving that have inspired them.

The classes are 1.5 or 2 hours long starting at 09:30.

Each class is 50kr.

Hvordan går det?

And I answer without being aware of how I actually walk. How do I balance out / relate to the situation? That which entails an inquiry / an interest in one or more directions, levels of effort and not to mention the body, gravity, and the base. What is expressed in me, for me and through me?

Balance. A continuous exchange within me between will, bodily matter, gravity and the base.

Functionality, - support, - transmission of power, - transmission of weight / shift - propulsion – flexibility / elasticity – contracting / releasing - charge / discharge

This has become an ongoing project where on a daily basis (for the last 2-3 years) I continuously try to come in contact with what it implies to tune in on daring to take the first step for the first time. What can come out of exposing oneself to not being able to walk despite the fact that I have a lot of experience with it, that I always walk in and out of something unknown.

Again and again I have to start by getting in contact with myself in the laying down and from there ask the substrate to build myself from, coming in contact with transmission of power to the moment of upright potential, to stand and then to take the fist step.

It is exciting for me to share this wondering and exploration with several in physical sensing work.

Ingunn Rimestad (1950) is a dance artist and teacher in Modern Dance and Contemporary Dance and Somatic practice with special focus on Sensory Awareness based on the heritage of Elsa Gindler (see link below). A praxis which focuses on the sensorial presence in the challenge of a moment, continually questioning the meeting with gravity, the substrate and how the balancing of situations take place.  She is influenced by studies in “Body Mind Centering”. In 2016 Rimestad received Danseinformasjonens honorary award.

Ingunn Rimestad has contributed as a dancer in works by several renowned Norwegian choreographers, among others; Anne Grete Eriksen and Leif Hernes/Dans Design Tempus Fugit and Juv, Amanda Steggell Arena, Hooman Sharifi/ Impure Company and later performances by Kristina Søetorp and Ida Wigdel /The Line and Silje Michaela Kvalheim/ Kompani UT. From 2015 she has worked closely with Mia Habib in the performances a song to, en sang til dere, en sang fra oss and further in ALL – A physical Poem Of Protest, last shown under the festival Europamaschine (March 2020) at Kasino/Burgtheater, Vienna.

In connection with the opening of the Munch Museum (October 2021) Rimestad danced in Permanent Collection by Manuel Pelmus. Additionally Rimestad has been involved as mentor in several other dance artists chorographical projects, especially for younger artists in Mind the Gap and Dans5, venues for exploring new chorographical ideas. In 2022 she has been involved with Panta Rei and their Tilt Share project.
