Timeless body:

In this workshop, we will look at how we can organise our own body like an individual ecosystem, where we explore how visible and invisible physical textures contribute to this symbiosis. Using techniques inspired by the living organism humus, we will let our movements live and die perpetually, a process that is both beautiful and violent. Further, we will look at how this personal ecosystem can be organised in relation to other bodies, present or imagined, which is an attempt to stretch the notion of the physical body as a momentarily present into a timeless one.

Biography:

Geir Hytten: performer and choreographer. He received his training at London Contemporary Dance School and at Laban, London, where he completed an MA in Dance Performance (2003). He also completed a BA in Human Geography (UiO) 2020.

He is a founding-member of Punchdrunk, collaborating in various projects over ten years. He made and performed the role of Macbeth in ‘Sleep No More’, which is still running in New York and Shanghai. Other companies include Vincent Dance Theatre, The Cholmondeley’s and The Featherstonehaugh’s, Frantic Assembly/National Theatre -Scotland, Daniel Kramer/Frauke Requardt (Sadler’s Wells), Coisceim, National Theatre -London and Complicite.

In Norway, he has been a part of Jo Strømgren Kompani, 2011-2021. He has also worked with Impure Company, Brageteatret, Ulf Nilseng, LATERNA, Katrine Kirsebom, Simone Grøtte, Karstein Solli, Roza Moshtaghi/De Naïve and Mia Habib.

Together with Marie Bergby Handeland, he choreographed and performed Vi Synger (2016). YOUR FAN (2018) is his first solo work, and he made and performed hello brother stage (2019) and hello brother screen and stripped (2020). In 2021 he choreographed and performed his fourth full length dance work grief will be our companion during CODA at Dansens Hus.
