About the event
PRAXIS Movement is a physical class series that offers different experiential approaches to embodiment, movement and consciousness to support our dancing bodies and dance-making.
Each class is 50kr.
Bring a mat and comfortable, warm clothes.
The doors will open 9:15,
We ask you to come in good time, as the space is not easy for late-comers.
The classes will be rooted in Taiji-practice as movement meditation, using its fundamental principles to deepen our awareness and grounding.
The interplay between the complementary forces will guide our explorations; light and darkness, substance and emptyness, form and no-form.
We notice how stillness and giving attention to our inner landscape can generate movement. We experience our presence and porous membranes in communication with the surrounding space. The classes will contain guided forms of Taiji and Qigong as well as the possibility to follow our own bodies in personal investigation.
Kristina Gjems trained at London Contemporary Dance School and has worked as a dancer and choreographer since 1984. Her works include stage and site-specific productions as well as short films. She is a lifetime partitioner of Taiji, which influences her movement vocabulary and inspires her artistic approach. Kristina’s practice is an exploration of what we are and what moves us. Key themes in her work are transformation, connectivity and impermanence.
