About the event

We relaunch PRAXIS Artist, an artist talk series started in 2020 in which two dance artists share their process and practice. PRAXIS Artist features practitioners who through movement and embodiment create different approaches to choreography and performance. PRAXIS Oslo selects one artist and they select a second artist with whom they can reflect and converse.

We welcome Inés Belli (NO) and Louis Schou-Hansen (DK) on May 4th in the Black Box at Deichman Grünerløkka Inés and Louis are close colleagues and friends. Their collaboration slips between the formal and informal, working together and alone. Be it organising discursive events, supporting each others work, or just hanging out, they are always involved in an ongoing conversation amongst themselves. Through their impatience and interest in critical conversation they are constantly engaged a practice of talking, discussing and thinking together. In this lies also an ongoing negotiation and articulation of the importance of this practice of conversation in all further artistic and social endeavours.

This event is free to attend.

RSVP to reserve your spot.

BIOGRAPHIES:

Inés Belli (1993) holds a BA in dance from Oslo National Academy of Arts and an MA in Art Theory from Goldsmiths University. She is based in Oslo and works within an expanded understanding of dance and choreography as an artist, curator and initiator of projects in different constellations. Through different formats, Inés’ work strives for ways of seeing and understanding differently, by means of clarification and confusion of contexts and relations, the audience’ gaze and the performers' practice. Be it in curatorial, organisational or performance contexts Inés explores choreography as a critical device for thought and movement. Recent artistic works include Metasexy (2020/21) and Postmodern Cool (2019), along with other commissioned works from Oslo National Academy of Arts (NO), Panta Rei Dance Theatre (NO) and Weld Dance Company(SE). Inés also supports the work of other artists as a dramaturg, outside eye and creative producer.

Louis Schou-Hansen (1992) is a dancer and choreographer based in Oslo, Norway. It holds a BA from Oslo National Academy of the Arts and will from 2022-24 be working on its MA at the Dutch Art Institute (DAI). Louis’ practice encompasses various formats such as performances, teaching, collective readings and other discursive events. Its current interests’ centers alternative/fictional history and marginalized narratives, usually viewed through a lens of queer and trans-feminist theory and practice. Its work has strong roots in dance and embodied practices, but is often developed and presented within interdisciplinary contexts. Louis has worked as a performer for various artists such as Ingri Fiksdal, Runa Borch Skolseg, Janne Camilla Lyster, Edhem Jesenkovic and more. Recent projects include AFTERLIFE (2022), Brakkesnakk w. Ines Belli (2020) and Shine Utopians w. Harald Beharie (2019), which was shortlisted for the Norwegian Critics Association Prize.
