About the event
PRAXIS Praksis is a 3 day long 'morning sharing' where we have invited several dance artists who will hold a space in which they share their ways into dancing; this can be through their daily routine, a choreographic practice, or other approaches into moving that have inspired them.
The classes are 1.5 or 2 hours long starting at 09:30.
Each class is 50kr.
The doors will open 9:15,
We ask you to come in good time, as the space is not easy for late-comers.
We will meet at Hausmania's back gates (behind Vega Scene)!
DESCRIPTION
In these workshops I will share my artistic practice related to recent choreographic works investigating awkwardness in movement.
We will be working with the awkward as a way of challenging the ideal body. For me, it is a form of physically embracing queerness, weirdness, and otherness.
Awkward as an inviting, warm welcome to feel safe.
Another element we will explore is the aspects of groove. We will be using grooves as an entrance to communicate our desires for acceptance in the discomfort.
"Groove to find ease
To fall into each other's beating pulse
Grooving because we insist on being irresistible"
BIO
Ian Yves Ancheta (he/him) is a Swedish/Filipino dancer and choreographer based in Norway. He had his first encounter with dance through New School Hip hop which led to his great interest in musicality and fragmented movement qualities. He graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in 2019 and worked as a dancer with companies such as Nagelhus Schia Productions, Conny Janssen Danst, Panta Rei Danseteater and Jo Strømgren Kompani.
Ian is interested in how dance and theater can become a safe space for both performers and audiences to explore unpredictability in the present moment. He investigates “audience sensitivty” as an interactive, inclusive and risk-taking element in his work. The inevitable social discomforts of life as an introverted hypersensitive person characterize his artistic work - resulting in awkward, humorous, and painfully relatable performances.
Associated with the production house Dansateliers, Ian’s works have been presented in Bmotion 2022, Conny Janssen Danst Danslokaal 2022, Moving Futures Festival 2022, HBS-fest 2021, and One Night’s Dance 2019. In 2023 his solo “titta på mina tuttar” was presented under koreografi laboratoriet in Dansens Hus, Oslo, and in 2024 his first full evening performance will premiere in Bærum Kulturhus, Sandvika.
