ABOUT:

This Fall PRAXIS organizes twice a month, a 3 days long 'morning sharing' at Dansens Haus (Hausmania). We have invited several dance artists who will hold a space in which they share their ways into dancing. This can be a warm up routine, a combination of tasks, references to other classes or clash of techniques that have inspired them.

The classes take 1,5h or 2h and start at 9.30h. Be on time as the location is not ideal for latecomers.

You can come for 3 days (250 NOK), or drop in (100 NOK).

DESCRIPTION:

During these three days I want to introduce the way I approach movement and creating movement patterns in my artistic work. We let our critical mind rest and approach movement by trusting that our body can find what is of interest to us through accumulation. Using short and long improvisational tasks we attempt to slowly approach what I call "materiality" - the sense of our improvised movement being something specific, concrete and recognisable. Something instead of everything or anything.

I recommend bringing something to take notes on - a notebook and pen or a laptop - whatever suits you best!

BIO:

Anu Laiho is a Finnish dance artist and dance teacher. She has graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Dance and Dance Pedagogics from the Arts Academy of TUAS (Finland) as well as a Master's Degree in Dance from KHiO (Norway). Currently based in Oslo and part of the interdiciplinary artist collective Montebøllo, she is interested with the resonances of the body in space and time, and investigating the borders of the personal and impersonal.
