Trond Reinholdtsen (Norway, 1972) lives and is educated as composer in Oslo, Norway. From around 2002 his work took a significant turn towards a music of an essayistic character, involving conceptual strategies, emphasis on semantic meaning and critical investigation of the genre and institutions of contemporary music, coupling references to the lecture, documentary, performance and banality with a profound interest in narrative form, mathematical structure and communist propaganda, briskly discarding emotionality, subtleness and musicality on the way.
For the last six years a substantial part of his artistic energy has been invested in the project The Norwegian Opra (www.thenorwegianopra.no), which used to be an opera house in the composer's own living room. Now the institution has moved to a newly bought villa in the Swedish countryside where the first eight episodes of the potentially infinite opera series “Ø” has been produced. |
